(Altdorf, April 21, 2026) German debut at Kuteno: For the first time, SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB, the German subsidiary of Japanese machine manufacturer SHIBAURA MACHINE, is presenting its innovations at a German trade show. At Booth 20-E43, the company will highlight the advantages of its extensive product range, which includes horizontal and vertical injection molding machines as well as automation solutions for thermoplastics, elastomers, and silicone. Founded in fall 2025, SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB emerged when SHIBAURA MACHINE acquired an 80% stake in LWB Steinl GmbH. Since then, the Altdorf-based company has strengthened its engineering, sales, and service capabilities while expanding its European sales network.
Automated Solutions for Complex Manufacturing Needs
“SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB supports plastics processors and injection molders in Germany with high-quality system solutions and automated production cells,” says Dr. Georg Holzinger, Managing Executive Officer of SHIBAURA MACHINE and Chair of the Management Board of SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB GmbH. “These solutions help customers tackle challenges like labor shortages, rising costs, and increasing energy prices.” The company offers horizontal and vertical injection molding machines in all-electric, hybrid, and hydraulic configurations, tailored for thermoplastics, elastomers, and silicone. “Whether serving high-end or mid-tech markets, we deliver intelligent, efficient, and sustainable turnkey solutions,” Holzinger explains. “With robotics, peripherals, and digital technologies, we enhance equipment effectiveness, reduce downtime, and ensure a strong return on investment.”
Energy-Efficient Technology at Kuteno
At Kuteno, SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB will showcase its injection molding portfolio and expertise in automated production cells. “Our EC-SXIII all-electric machines, with clamping forces up to 3,000 metric tons, stand out for their precision and energy efficiency,” says Dr. Martin Kovacik, Executive Vice President Thermoplastics, Sales and Service EMEA. “Meanwhile, our S-GenXt hydraulic machines excel in robustness and cost-effectiveness.” The company’s automation solutions include SCARA and 6-axis robots, as well as drying and cooling systems.
Visitors will also see the V70 control system, developed in-house, which simplifies mold setup, analyzes defects, optimizes cycle times, and integrates peripherals via the OPC UA standard. “With our IIoT platform ‘machiNetCloud’ and the AI-powered monitoring system ‘Virtual Machine Expert,’ we enable stable, efficient production and foster smart, connected operations,” adds Kovacik.
SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB will also present its vertical injection molding machines, with clamping forces from 10 to 1,800 metric tons. These range from C-frame to 4-column and platen-frame models. “Our modular machine architecture offers horizontal column and C-frame options, supporting thermoplastics and elastomers,” explains Daniel Wiedemann, Head of Sales Europe Elastomers. The company’s intelligent manufacturing solutions, such as the LWB VALUE MultiStation and LWB VALUE PowerStation, optimize injection molding cycles. “These systems automate and parallelize process steps, boosting productivity, reducing scrap, and cutting energy consumption,” Wiedemann notes. “The PowerStation ensures short cycle times, top part quality, and maximum flexibility for molds and materials.”
Expanding Sales and Strengthening Competitiveness
“The market remains challenging,” says Holzinger. “Geopolitical uncertainties, cautious investments, and industry upheavals are slowing growth.” SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB is addressing these challenges by focusing on sustainable competitiveness as an integrated solutions provider. “Our global teams in engineering, sales, and service are working more closely than ever to future-proof our portfolio and strengthen our market position,” Holzinger explains. “We aim to significantly increase market penetration by 2030 and are expanding our sales structures in Germany and Europe.” Since fall 2025, the company has added distributors in Sweden, Denmark, and Poland. The Altdorf site is also growing as the European headquarters and a hub for production and system integration, underscoring SHIBAURA MACHINE LWB’s commitment to Germany as a center of innovation and expertise.
